Lara Whatmore is the owner of Tall Pines Sign Co. a sign making company right here in Nova Scotia. At the beginning of the summer, we partnered with Lara to build her dream studio workshop. Workshop Build, July & August 2019
Building a Studio Workshop One Step At A Time.
With the foundation laid and the walls up, the beginning of July brought the installation of trusses over at Lara’s Workshop. We brought in the experts at Maritime Truss who helped Lara choose an attic truss system. Attic trusses are open in the center to allow for extra living space. A space Lara plans to use as a studio to display her work.

We can’t talk about July without mentioning the beautiful sign Lara made just for us! We walked the Canada Day parade in style with our own Tall Pines to help us celebrate 55 years in business.

Back at the workshop, Lara was planning for the next few stages of her project. Near the end of July, she visited the Design Gallery to pick out her shingles and siding.

Over the next week the shingles we’re installed and the roofing completed.
Lara chose to use BP’s Mystique 42 shingles in Classic Brown. These shingles are wind resistant up to 180 km/hr with proper installation. Perfect for Nova Scotia weather.
We head into September with our project about halfway completed. Next up is installing the windows and doors. If you’d like to stay up to date on the progress, follow @payzanthhbc and @tall_pines_sign_co on Instagram.
